Janie Ale (she/her), Deputy Chair
Born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau and of Māori and Tongan descent, Janie is passionate about kaupapa Māori, identity, healing, and helping others reconnect with themselves beyond the pressure to perform, shrink, or fit in.
With a background in education both in Aotearoa and internationally, she later stepped into entrepreneurial leadership within the digital business space, co-founding one of New Zealand’s largest affiliate business communities
before moving further into transformational spaces centred around women’s empowerment, self-development, and authentic connection.Over the past several years, Janie has been on a deeply personal journey of reclaiming her reo Māori and strengthening her connection to Te Ao Māori. That journey eventually led her to Tauranga, where she immersed herself in Te Tohu Paetahi, the total immersion Māori language programme at the University of Waikato. Through wānanga, community, and te reo Māori, this chapter of her life became more than education — it became a return to self.
Through her work, kōrero, and online presence, Janie openly shares the realities of healing, identity, confidence, and learning to take up space authentically. Her passion lies in creating spaces where women feel seen, heard, encouraged, and empowered to reconnect with who they truly are.
Grounded in connection, community, and realness, Janie brings warmth, honesty, humour, and depth to every space she enters.
At the heart of everything she does is the belief that authenticity is not something we create — it’s something we return to.
