Diverse & Proud
Supportive conversations on mental health and lived experience
The issue:
In this challenging world, many people from migrant and marginalised communities continue to face intersectional challenges. Alongside the mental health struggles of everyday life, many also navigate the ongoing impacts of racism, discrimination, and microaggressions.
While therapy and access to mental health services remain essential, Authenticity Aotearoa recognises the need for safe community spaces for young people from these communities to simply be heard, acknowledged, and supported through shared conversation and lived experience.
Co-designing a solution:
Diverse & Proud was developed as a community-led initiative exploring the need for safe spaces where people could collectively share their experiences through an intersectional lens, alongside the presence of qualified mental health professionals and community voices.
As part of this process, Authenticity Aotearoa facilitated early co-design conversations and community discussions to better understand the needs and perspectives of those within diverse communities.
